NORTH BERWICK, Scotland -- The third round of the Genesis Scottish Open resumed after a fog delay of more than two hours.

Play was originally halted at 10:45 a.m. (5:45 a.m. ET) due to heavy fog. A cold front moving down from northwest Scotland brought rain and fog as play began Saturday morning at The Renaissance Club. Only 17 players were on the course when play was suspended.

The conditions are known as haar, a cold, wet sea fog or mist that frequently rolls in from the North Sea onto the eastern coast of Scotland and northern England. Rain was expected to taper around 1 p.m. local time, and foggy conditions were expected to remain but weaken throughout the day. Tournament officials resumed play at 1:10 p.m., for a total delay of 2 hours, 25 minutes, and announced revised tee times for the rest of the day.

Originally scheduled to tee off at 3:35 p.m. local time, the final group of co-leaders Jordan Smith and Tom Kim will now tee off at 6:15 p.m. (1:15 p.m. ET). Rory McIlroy, who shared the overnight lead with Smith and Kim, now tees off at 6:04 p.m. alongside Matt Fitzpatrick.

Sunset in North Berwick is expected to be approximately 9:52 p.m. local time.
