Nike releases Jordan spikeless shoes, Tiger 'Frank' shirts to retail

    Written by Andrew Turksy @AndrewTursky

Two highly anticipated retail releases hit Nike.com on Friday: spikeless Jordan golf shoes, and a Tiger Woods “Frank the headcover” item.

While the Jordan brand was relatively late to the golf-shoe game, it has certainly picked up steam in the last few years. Jordan has released both golf-specific shoes and remakes of popular Jordan basketball shoes made with golf spikes. Pat Perez, Keegan Bradley, Luke Donald and Harold Varner III each wear Jordan golf shoes during competition on the PGA TOUR.

All of the Jordan golf shoes -- that have hit the retail market, at least – have had traditional golf spikes on their soles. Many golfers, however, prefer the comfort, playability and versatility of spikeless golf shoes. Therefore, it seemed to be only a matter of time until Jordan released a spikeless golf shoe. Now, that day has come.

On Friday, Jordan ADG spikeless golf shoes hit Nike.com. They feature classic elephant print, which made its debut on the famous Air Jordan 3 basketball shoe from 1988 designed by Tinker Hatfield, as well the Jumpman logo (in three locations on each shoe) and “GOLF” on the back heels, instead of “NIKE.” Also, like the original Air Jordan 11 “Concord” basketball shoes, the Jordan ADG golf shoes have translucent outsoles, except they’re designed specifically for golfers.

The Jordan ADG golf shoes come in two colorways (White-Cement Grey-Fire Red and Black-Cement Grey-Fire Red) and are available for $140. Click here for more.

On Friday, Nike also released a t-shirt bearing the new “Frank the headcover” logo, which is inspired by Tiger Woods’ driver headcover that he’s used throughout his life. Woods set social media on fire with his Frank-logoed Nike golf polo that he wore during a press conference ahead of the Masters last month. Nike actually did release a small quantity of “Frank” golf polos to its Nike Members, but it wasn’t a public release. Woods also wore a “Frank” hat, along with his green jacket, while spotted at his restaurant following the win.

Demand for the “Frank” golf polo and the golf hat remain high because they haven’t been released publicly, and because Woods won The 2019 Masters where the products were first seen.

Although neither of those specific products hit the market, Nike did release a “Frank” golf t-shirt to the public for $35. Click here for more.

At this point, it’s clear that anything with the “Frank” logo will sell quickly, since only medium-size shirts are still available
