Keegan Bradley, Tony Finau survive cut as FedExCup Playoffs hopes remain alive at Wyndham Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – It came down to the wire Friday at the Wyndham Championship for several of the PGA TOUR’s biggest names looking to make the FedExCup Playoffs.

First, they had to make it to the weekend.

With the cutline hovering precariously at 3 under, every shot mattered for players whose seasons were on the line at Sedgefield Country Club. Chief among them were Keegan Bradley and Tony Finau.

Bradley, who’s made 15 straight FedExCup Playoffs appearances, played his final six holes in 3-under fashion to finish at 3 under and make the weekend on the number. Finau, meanwhile, also finished at 3 under and kept his hopes of extending his streak of 11 consecutive Playoffs appearances alive.

“I really want to make the Playoffs a lot,” said Bradley, who stands at No. 73 in the FedExCup and needs to finish in a two-way tie for T38 to advance to Memphis next week. “… They moved the goal posts on me a little bit through the years. Normally this would cruise into the Playoffs.”

Bradley admitted the pressure was unlike anything he had experienced in his career.

“I was really, really nervous coming down to the end, like ‘to win the tournament’ sort of feel, so that was fun,” he added.

The eight-time TOUR winner was candid about the challenges of his season, particularly regarding his inability to shake off lingering disappointment following the 2025 Ryder Cup, where he captained an American squad that lost on home soil at Bethpage Black in New York.

“I just got off to such a bad start. It was such a weird time after the Ryder Cup, it was really tough for me to get back into this whole life. And it still is, to be honest,” Bradley said. “But I'm really looking forward to hopefully getting the weekend and playing as hard as I can and resetting after these Playoffs and getting back to kind of who I am as a player. I'm excited for that. I'm going to play as hard as I can until they tell me I can't anymore though.”

Now, he has two more rounds to try to extend his season.

“I really feel like I play some of my best golf when I'm under a little bit of pressure,” Bradley said.

Finau also finished at 3 under after a clutch closing stretch in which he salvaged pars despite missing several greens.

“I'm happy to be playing the weekend, that's the big part right now,” Finau said following his 66 on Friday. “I shot myself in the foot yesterday, and I knew I needed to put together a really nice round today. So, I was actually quite happy with the way I played. I made some really clutch pars down the stretch. I missed a bunch of greens on my last handful of holes but was able to get up and down.”

Making the weekend gives Finau at least two more rounds to make his move. The six-time TOUR winner sits at No. 89 in the FedExCup, and he needs a two-way tie for third to make the postseason.

The 36-year-old Utah native called his season “a failed season up to this point,” but said he remains committed to learning from the experience.

“Yeah, it's been a disappointing season, no question. There's no sugarcoating it for me. It's been a failed season up to this point,” Finau said. “But the thing is, I continue to stay optimistic and continue to learn. That's all you can do out here. I've always had the motto of you either win or you learn. I haven't done a lot of winning this week, so I've done a lot of learning. Or this year, I've done a lot of learning. So, I'll just continue to learn from the mistakes that I'm making and see how I can be better for next season.”

His mindset for the weekend?

“All gas, no brake,” Finau said. “I've got to play really nicely to extend my season. I'm relishing the opportunity and looking forward to it.”

Finau said Friday's performance reminded him that he still has plenty of fight left, and he has no intention of backing down over the final 36 holes.

“I told my caddie, I said, ‘If we go down, we're going to go down swinging.’ So that's what the motto is for the next two days.”

Also falling on the right side of the cutline – and on the number – were defending champion Cameron Young, who rebounded from an opening-round 71 with a 66 on Friday, and Jordan Spieth, who stayed steady with rounds of 68-69.

Heading home early were two players with strong ties to North Carolina, University of North Carolina alumni Ryan Gerard and Ben Griffin, who both finished at 2 under to miss the weekend by a shot.

Also missing weekend action – and ending his postseason streak at 18 straight appearances – was Jason Day.

The former world No. 1 entered this week's Wyndham Championship ranked No. 75 in the FedExCup standings with 495 points, needing at least a two-way tie for 12th to climb past rookie Jackson Koivun, who was No. 70, and into the top 70.

Instead, after a second-round 3-over 73 left him at 4 over for the tournament and assured of missing the cut, Day's remarkable streak of 18 consecutive FedExCup Playoffs appearances came to an end.

For Bradley and Finau, however, the fight continues. They have 36 more holes to keep their seasons alive.
