Pat Perez shot a final-round 69 to secure his third PGA TOUR title at the CIMB Classic. At an event where low scores are necessary to compete, Perez was head and shoulder above the field in a number of key statistical categories, including birdies (27) and greens in regulation percentage (86 percent).
Perez made one club change at TPC Kuala Lumpur, adding PXG's 0341X 3-wood to the bag for the first time. Matt Rollins, PXG's Tour Operation Director, noted that Perez, a high spin golfer, was drawn to the fairway wood due to the penetrating ball flight it produced during testing.
Compared to the standard 0341 fairway wood, the 0341X produces 300-400 RPMs less spin. The fairway wood features a TPE honeycomb design in the sole that covers the weight port structure and works in tandem with a carbon fiber crown to save weight, lower the club's center of gravity and lower spin.
