When Dustin Johnson, John Rahm, and Sergio Garcia tee it up on Friday at THE PLAYERS Championship, they will do so in adidas Golf’s Special Edition Silver BOOST shoes. The players will have the option of lacing up the new colorway in the brand’s TOUR360, TOUR360 Knit or Crossknit 2.0 models. To create a clean head-to-toe look, the trio will pair the footwear with coordinating white and silver outfits.

Adidas first brought colored BOOST technology to the running shoe market in 2016 through its UltraBOOST Uncaged shoes. With the launch of this silver colorway, it marks the second time in as many months adidas has launched golf footwear with colored BOOST midsoles. In March, the brand introduced a Black BOOST colorway at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play. Prior to this, adidas’ BOOST golf shoes were only available with the original white midsole. Moving to colored BOOST technology gives the golf footwear team the ability to create interesting colorways and more stylish looks.

“Having additional colors for our BOOST technology is something all golf fans have been waiting for,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf. “We saw amazing interest around our special edition BOOST colorway we introduced in black and know that this silver version will be yet another great style option for those looking to wear the best cushioning in the game.”

Proprietary to adidas in partnership with BASF, BOOST is a lightweight foam comprised of thousands of popcorn-like TPU beads. These beads are steam-molded and pressed together in the midsole shape for specific shoe models. The biggest advantage BOOST has over traditional EVA midsoles is its energy return. In fact, adidas says BOOST possesses an energy return of greater than 84%. Standard EVA materials are said to have an energy return of between 50% and 65%. Another benefit of BOOST is its durability. Over time, EVA will begin to collapse, but BOOST does not break down and it maintains its properties even in extreme heat and cold.

The Special Edition Silver BOOST colorway is available now in the TOUR360 ($210), TOUR360 Knit ($190) and Crossknit 2.0 ($160) models.
