Dustin Johnson (Adidas Golf)
(See image, above) DJ looks to defend his U.S. Open title in this All-American script, which was inspired by Adidas’ golf uniforms from the Rio Olympics. Camo patterns continue to be one of the strongest trends on the fairways and Johnson will subtly work the pattern into his wardrobe at Erin Hills through a tonal camo stripe design on two of the days. With the shirts being the focal points of his outfits, Dustin will smartly complete his looks with solid colored trousers in basic white, gray, and navy.
Rory McIlroy (Nike Golf)
Blades of glory? Rory returns from injury and looks to capture his second U.S. Open title while showcasing Nike’s latest Blade Collar Polos. The new Zonal Cooling MM Fly Blade Polos provide optimal breathability in areas where the body produces the most heat. The best part of Rory’s script, though, is the color palette with high-octane blues and greens balanced against soft grays and white.
Jordan Spieth (Under Armor)
Blue has been Jordan Spieth’s go-to color and he will be in his comfort zone at Erin Hills in this predominately blue script. His two best looks feature a mix of light and dark shades of the color for the first and final rounds. The two-tone belt for the opening round creates a smooth transition from top to bottom. Under Armour has also equipped Jordan with two new fabric technologies to keep him cool. Threadborne dries fast, won’t cling or chafe, and stretches without absorbing sweat while CoolSwitch uses an exclusive coating on the inside of the garment to pull heat away from the skin.
Sergio Garcia (Adidas Golf)
Can Sergio take the next step towards the Grand Slam? If so, he will do it in a series of bold looks with bursts of red and blue. Adidas’ Climacool Engineered Block Polos are a perfect match for the reigning Masters Champ’s aggressive play and style. The other two days see Garcia in the subtle texture offered by a 2D camo print.
Adam Scott (Uniqlo)
Two of the biggest names in menswear, Uniqlo and Theory, teamed up to create Adam Scott’s shirts for the U.S. Open. This capsule collection of polos combines a timeless style with high-performance, moisture-wicking fabrics. Scott will also debut Uniqlo’s new lightweight Kando pants in a range of dusty pastels that reflect the vibrancy and freshness of early summer.
Rickie Fowler (Puma Golf)
Rickie knows how to play to the home crowd. While he typically makes noise with daring looks, his Green Bay Packers inspired bag will likely be getting a ton of applause at Erin Hills this week. On the apparel side, Rickie will sport his usual mix of bright colors and bold stripes.
Jason Day (Nike Golf)
Like Rory, Jason Day will look to get into the zone with Nike’s Zonal Cooling MM Fly Blade Polos. The brilliant Chlorine Blue and Sport Fuchsia colors bring high-contrast looks to the fairways that are sure to turn heads. These eye-popping colors are part of Nike’s overarching color story called Pigment Burst, which pairs bright, highly saturated colors with understated neutrals for a disruptive look.
Bubba Watson (Oakley)
Bubba is taking a business-like approach to his apparel with a wardrobe grounded in black, white, and gray. The mix of simple solids, modern color blocked designs and graphical prints shows the breadth of styles in Oakley’s latest collection. Of course, Bubba wouldn’t be Bubba without mixing in pops of color. Look for him to add bursts of color to his looks with his vibrant G/FORE gloves and matching Volvik golf balls.
Brandt Snedeker (Peter Millar)
You can bet Sneds will be one of the best dressed guys at Erin Hills. His script is filled with contemporary takes on modern designs, right down to his shoes. Expect Brandt to lace up a new Brogue Gallivanter and new Pintuck Gallivanter, the stylish result of a collaboration between Peter Millar and G/FORE. Both bring a new school attitude to vintage designs. There is no shortage of bright colors in Snedeker’s script, either. African Violet, Midnight, Seafoam, and Moroccan Pink bring an energetic edge to his well-tailored and sophisticated looks. Thursday’s summer plaid pants are sure to turn a few heads.
Justin Thomas (Polo Ralph Lauren)
JT makes a strong and stylish statement right out of the gate with engineered colorblock stripes on Thursday. The yellow stripe adds a splash of energy to his look while the wider white stripe syncs perfectly with his crisp white pants. This shirt is part of Ralph Lauren’s U.S. Open Championship Collection and is adorned with a commemorative patch on the left chest. Not only is the brand outfitting Thomas, but it is also dressing USGA Committee members, staff, and more than 5,000 volunteers. It sounds like a lot of stylish people will be walking around Erin Hills.
Bill Haas (Peter Millar)
Bill Haas will play it conservative in classic stripes and simple solids. The Snow Pea Green striped polo on Saturday is a tip of the cap to Erin Hills’ shamrock logo. What really stands out to me are Haas’ belt selections. The Manatee Blue hue on the cotton braided belt brings a complementary third color into his outfit. A red and blue striped ribbon strap offers an All-American look for the final round.
Kyle Thompson (Chase54)
The calendar may say mid-June, but Kyle Thompson is debuting pieces from Chase54’s new Boundaries Unknown Collection for Autumn/Winter. The rich blues and burgundies coupled with bold patterns create an intense script from start to finish for Thompson. The standout piece is Sunday’s Baroque Polo with a large tonal paisley print.
