PGA TOUR Apparel is set to help you beat the heat and humidity this summer with a new collection of shorts, polos and t-shirts designed to keep you cool, dry and comfortable. The brand’s new range of Performance Gear is loaded with innovative fabric technologies that offer sun protection, mechanical stretch, ventilation, and water repellency to handle the season’s conditions. Also, the hybrid nature of the collection allows it to effortlessly move beyond the course to the court, the gym and even the pool.

The inspiration behind PGA TOUR Apparel’s new Performance Gear Collection has as much to do with versatility as it does with on course functionality. While observing and talking with players, the brand’s vice president of design, Lupe Benitez, noticed that as society has become more fluid, golfers are teeing it up in apparel that easily transitions with them throughout the day.

“Traveling all over the world I noticed that more guys were mixing in crossover pieces with their everyday looks,” said Benitez. “Guys are being asked to do more multi-tasking, so why not give them multi-purpose clothing? That’s how the idea for the Performance Gear Collection came about.”

The best example of this hybrid apparel philosophy can be seen in PGA TOUR Apparel’s new range of shorts. One look and it is easy to see design influences from sports like surfing, hiking, fishing and mountain biking.

The Hybrid All Sport Short is the most versatile and stylish of the group. Picture yourself heading to the course for an early morning round followed by a workout in the gym, an afternoon swim at the pool, and an evening match on the tennis court. You no longer have to pack separate pairs of shorts for each of those activities as the Hybrid All Sport Short can handle the entire day without missing a beat.

The material on the Hybrid All Sport Short is closer to the fabric found on your favorite pair of board shorts than those heavy cotton twill shorts of yesteryear. The brand’s SunFlux™ technology helps to protect you from harmful rays, while MotionFlux™ provides the stretch needed unleash drives on the course or to step up your squat game in the gym. Plus, the water repellent treatment and mesh pocket liners allow you to go straight from the 18th hole to the pool without having to hit the locker room to change.

Joining the Hybrid All Sport Short is the Hybrid Utility Short that is perfect for the links, the gym or the trails. Unlike those unsightly, baggy pockets on most pairs of cargo shorts, the utility pocket on this short is slim and streamlined. Delivering comfortable waistbands often means sacrificing style, but the extender waistband on the Hybrid Utility Short is elegantly executed and won’t offend your fashion sensibilities.

To complete your look, PGA TOUR Apparel’s Performance Gear includes a range of polos and crew neck t-shirts.

The aptly-named Athletic Polo oozes performance and understated style. The forward seam with overlock stitching at the shoulder elevates the look, while the regular fit is sure to appeal to a wide range of players. Like the shorts, the Athletic Polo features the brand’s cutting-edge performance technologies. The MotionFlux fabric and stretch seams provide optimum range of motion, SunFlux offers UPF protection, and the DriFlux™ technology wicks perspiration from the skin.

With more golfers reaping the benefits of fitness and more clubs building gyms on site, it makes sense for PGA TOUR Apparel to offer a range of crew neck t-shirts for workouts. Two of the three styles incorporate strategically-placed mesh panels on the back and shoulders for ventilation.

Lupe Benitez has succeeded in bringing contemporary and athletic vibes to the Performance Gear Collection, while maintaining the brand’s classic looks. Prints and patterns are in vogue and the collection finds itself on trend with a variety of sublimated prints. Modern horizontal stripes and trendy ombre, heather and geometric prints weave their way through the collection and play into the sporty aesthetic.

These style elements combined with the versatility, advanced fabrics and reasonable price tags make the Performance Gear Collection from PGA TOUR Apparel a strong option for summer.

PGA TOUR Apparel is worn on the TOUR by 2015 RSM Classic Champion Robert Streb.
