Personal
- An avid cyclist.
- Decided to give golf a try at age 14 after watching Jack Nicklaus on television during the 1971 Masters.
- Started his career after taking a course of six lessons at Welwyn Garden City with a set of clubs borrowed from his next-door neighbor. Became England's best amateur player within four years.
- Rose to prominence during the 1980s under the tutelage of David Leadbetter, who radically altered his swing over a painstaking, two-year process.
- Operates Faldo Golf Institute at Marriott Grande Vista Resort in Orlando, Fla., and Faldo Design, a growing worldwide course-design company.
- In May 2015, along with Sandy Lyle, became an honorary member of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.
- Has won six major championship titles and is a World Golf Hall of Fame member since 1998.
- Following his success in the commentary booth for ABC Sports since 2005, appointed lead analyst for PGA TOUR coverage on CBS Sports and Golf Channel in 2007.

2017 Season
Continued working a busy broadcast schedule for CBS Sports and Golf Channel, but did play in seven events during the year, the most starts he's had in a season since turning 50.

Shaw Charity Classic: Best effort came in early September when he opened with rounds of 67-64 at the Shaw Charity Classic to stand T6 after two rounds but a final-round 73 left him T21 at the conclusion.

U.S. Senior Open Championship: Missed the cut at The Senior Open Championship at Sunningdale.

Senior Open Championship: Made his final Open Championship appearance at St. Andrews and missed the cut.

SAS Championship: Played late in the season at the SAS Championship and was T62 after opening the tournament with a 2-under 70.

Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic presented by C Spire: Made his fourth career Champions Tour appearance and first since the 2013 SAS Championship (WD), when he played at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic and finished T53 at Fallen Oak.

2011 Season
Again spent majority of his year as the lead analyst for both Golf Channel and CBS Sports golf broadcasts.

2007 Season

The Senior Open Championship presented by Aberdeen Asset Mngt.: Made his Champions Tour debut at The Senior Open Championship and finished T14 at Muirfield, the same venue where he won the 1987 and 1992 Open Championship. Held a share of the first-round lead after posting a 68 but fell back after rounds of 74-75-75 in Scotland.

The Open Championship: His lone PGA TOUR start was a missed cut at The Open Championship. Prepped for his first Champions Tour event by playing in The Open Championship at Carnoustie the week prior. Missed the cut after rounds of 79-73.
2006 Season
Played in six PGA TOUR events.

Bay Hill Invitational Presented by MasterCard: Made the cut at the Bay Hill Invitational. He eventually had to withdraw following the third round because of injury.
2005 Season
Played in five events on TOUR.

The Open Championship: Rebounded with a T11 at The Open Championship with rounds of 70-69 on the weekend.

Masters Tournament: Withdrew after eight holes with a back injury at the Masters.

The Honda Classic: The following week, came close at The Honda Classic. Shot a final-round 69 but ended up a stroke behind winner Mark O'Meara.

Shinhan Korea Golf Championship: Late in the year, turned in a T26 at the unofficial Shinhan Korea Golf Championship.

Bay Hill Invitational Presented by MasterCard: Top finish in six starts was a solo 68th-place finish at the Bay Hill Invitational.
2003 Season
Made six cuts in seven PGA TOUR starts. Streak of most consecutive majors played, dating to the 1987 Open Championship.

PGA Championship: Ended at 65 when he withdrew from the PGA Championship to be at home in England for the birth of daughter Emma.

Martini International: In Epsom, England, at the Martini International, made things interesting on the final day with a 5-under 67 only to place solo second, five shots behind winner Seve Ballesteros at RAC G&CC.

Colgate PGA Championship: He won the Colgate PGA Championship for the first time, taking home the title at Royal Birkdale GC by seven stroke over Ken Brown.
1977 Season

Ryder Cup Matches: Played in his first Ryder Cup, representing the Great Britain-Ireland team, recording a 3-0 record at Royal Lytham and St. Annes, including a singles victory over Tom Watson.

Lancome Trophy: Was fourth at the Lancome Trophy in his final European Tour start of the season, a distant 10 strokes behind Graham Marsh at St. Nom La Breteche.
