Father was a firefighter for 31 years.
Although he grew up in California, has a strong Hawaiian heritage back many generations. Both of his parents were born and raised in Hawaii.
Earliest golf memory is sneaking onto a golf course at night. Eventually putted every night on the 11th green.
It took him less than four years in both high school and college to graduate.
Supports One Hope, which supports researchers who are looking for a cure for Batten disease. Friends' granddaughters are affected by the disease.
Says he likes to chew gum while playing. "It gives me something to do when I'm playing, and it keeps me distracted," he says.
Amateur Highlights
At Oahu CC, won the 2018 Manoa Cup, the 110th playing of Hawaii’s most-prestigious amateur tournament. Defeated Justin Ngan, 2-up, in the championship match.
In 2015, defeated Cameron Champ by two shots to win the Memorial Amateur at Ancil Hoffman GC in Sacramento, Calif., becoming, in the process, the tournament’s youngest winner.
Lost in the championship match of the 2015 California Amateur to current PGA TOUR Series-China player Shotaro Ban. Was the youngest finalist in the history of that tournament, at age 17.
