Began in the sport by playing mini-golf with his grandma, who also witnessed his first win as a pro, at the 2018 Harewood Open. Started playing traditional golf at age 15.

Mother, Julie, is an interior designer for the Millbrook Golf Resort in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Brother Troy plays professional rugby for a New Zealand All Blacks-associated team.

Is the oldest of three siblings.
