Titleist officially launches new TS2 and TS3 hybrids

Titleist’s new TS2 and TS3 hybrids first launched on the PGA TOUR at the 2019 Memorial Tournament, where Charley Hoffman (TS3, 17 degrees) and Robert Streb (TS3, 21 degrees) became the first players to use them in competition. Since then, Ian Poulter (TS2, 21 degrees), Charles Howell III (TS2, 21 degrees) and Patton Kizzire (TS3, 19 degrees), among others, have put them into their bags, as well.

The TS hybrids (TS stands for “Titleist Speed”) join Titleist’s family of TS metalwoods that includes drivers and fairway woods. Like their family members, the TS hybrids are built to increase ball speeds over previous Titleist models.

To achieve faster speeds, Titleist has constructed the faces of the TS2 and TS3 hybrids 16 percent thinner than the previous 818 hybrids. Additionally, new weight distribution in the crowns and faces have allowed Titleist to lower CG (center of gravity) in the heads for higher launch and lower spin, and increase MOI (moment of inertia) resulting in higher ball speeds across their faces.

“By taking everything we learned in developing TS drivers and fairways and implementing those technologies into our hybrid platform, we’ve been able to improve our speed and distance performance while maintaining the incredible playability that makes these hybrids scoring clubs,” said Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Metalwoods Development for Titleist Golf Club R&D in a press release.

The TS hybrids are available in two different head shapes; the TS2 hybrid is designed for “distance and maximum forgiveness across the face,” according to Titleist, while the TS3 model is made for “outstanding distance with shot-shape customization” by way of a Magnetic SureFit CG weighting system. Both hybrids have Titleist’s SureFit hosel system that allows for 16 independent loft and lie settings.

Set to hit golf shops worldwide on August 30, the TS2 (17 degrees RH Only, 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27 degrees), and TS3 (19, 21, 23 and 25 degrees) hybrids will come stock with four aftermarket shafts including Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Dual Core Black, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Series Blue, Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black and Project X EvenFlow T1100 White. They will sell for $279 each.
