Tiger Woods to make big equipment changes in 2019 debut

As implied by a Tweet on his official Twitter account, Tiger Woods will have a TaylorMade M5 driver (9 degrees), a TaylorMade M5 Titanium three wood (15 degrees) and TaylorMade “P-7TW Milled Grind” irons (3-PW) in the bag for his 2019 PGA TOUR debut at the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

For his shafts, Woods has a Diamana D+ White 70TX in his driver and an 80TX in his fairway wood.

First, bit of back story on the significance of these “P-7TW Milled Grind” irons.

In the beginning of 2017, Tiger Woods signed with TaylorMade. Throughout 2017 and early 2018, however, Woods played custom blade irons stamped “TGR” on the back cavities. Then, at the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship, Woods debuted mysterious TaylorMade blade irons called “TW Phase-1.” He went onto win the TOUR Championship using the TW-Phase 1 blades, and he still had them in the bag as of “The Match” against Phil Mickelson.

Now, it appears Woods is changing into these P-7TW Milled Grind irons, which could be the next iterations of the TW Phase-1 irons.

Actually, if Woods does indeed tee it up come Thursday at Torrey Pines, he’ll be the second player to use them in competition. Former fellow Nike staffer Tommy Fleetwood debuted the “TW” irons in competition at the Abu Dhabi HSBC. Fleetwood’s version of the irons, however, did not appear to have any paintfill on the model stamp. Woods’ version, not shockingly, has red paintfill on the “TW.”

Also spotted in the photo from Woods was the M5 driver and M5 Titanium fairway wood. It’s still unknown what shafts he has in those clubs, but we will update this story as soon as that information surfaces.
