Illinois’ Adrien Dumont De Chassart Moves Into Top Five of PGA TOUR University Velocity Global Ranking

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida – After a T2 finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, Illinois’ Adrien Dumont De Chassart improved one spot to No. 5 in this week’s PGA TOUR University Velocity Global Ranking. Ludvig Aberg (Texas Tech) holds the No. 1 position for the second straight week, and this week he also became the first Swedish male to reach No. 1 in WAGR. Fred Biondi (Florida) remains No. 2 in PGA TOUR University, and he’s followed by Sam Bennett (Texas A&M) and Austin Greaser (North Carolina).
Dumont De Chassart is the reigning two-time Big Ten Golfer of the Year (2021, 2022) and he has eight top-10s and one victory on his PGA TOUR University record. A fifth-year senior from Belgium, he joins Aberg (Sweden) and Biondi (Brazil) as international players in the top-five.
The Olympia Fields leaderboard produced significant movement throughout the Velocity Global Ranking. Among the players in the top 20, Florida’s Ricky Castillo tied for second and improved seven spots to No. 16, while Alabama’s Canon Claycomb (8th) improved one spot to No. 8 and Oklahoma State’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen (T9) improved two spots to No. 10.
Four more players improved after top-10 finishes at Olympia Fields. Arizona State’s Ryggs Johnston (4th) is up 13 spots to No. 41, Illinois’ Tommy Kuhl (5th) improved 11 spots to No. 37, Florida State’s Cole Anderson (T6) improved 13 spots to No. 28, and Alabama’s Thomas Ponder (T9) is up seven spots to No. 35.
The top 10 players in the final Velocity Global Ranking will earn Korn Ferry Tour membership next season, with Nos. 1-5 being exempt members and Nos. 6-10 being conditional members. Additionally, players finishing 6th through 20th will be exempt members on PGA TOUR Canada and PGA TOUR Latinoamérica.

The Ranking Period for the Class of 2023 began Week 23/2021 and concludes May 29, 2023, following the final round of stroke play at the NCAA D-I Men’s National Championship.
