Great uncle, Randy Hughes, was a Super Bowl-winning safety for the Dallas Cowboys; he recorded an interception and two fumble recoveries as the Cowboys defeated the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XII (January 1978). Hughes was a fourth-round pick in the 1975 NFL Draft (out of University of Oklahoma) and a member of the Cowboys' famed "Dirty Dozen."

Amateur Highlights

Finished No. 7 in the 2026 PGA TOUR University Ranking after four seasons at Southern Methodist University. Performance benefits included Korn Ferry Tour membership for the remainder of the 2026 season and an exemption for Second Stage of 2026 PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.

Played four seasons at Southern Methodist University (2022-26), where he earned four individual victories (tied with Kelly Kraft for the second-most career wins in school history in records dating to the 1993-94 season, only behind Colt Knost's seven wins), broke the school record for single-season scoring average as a senior (69.63 in 2025-26), and concluded his career ranked second in program history in career scoring average (71.07, only behind Noah Goodwin's record of 71.04).

Earned a 2026 All-America First Team honor in his final season at SMU.

Won the 2026 Jones Cup Invitational at Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Georgia. Past champions of the event include Luke List (2007), Patrick Reed (2010), Justin Thomas (2012), Corey Conners (2014), Akshay Bhatia (2019), Davis Thompson (2020), and Ludvig Aberg (2021).

Runner-up finisher (lost to Drew Goodman in a playoff) at the 2024 Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship.

Quarterfinalist at the 2024 Western Amateur.

Co-runner-up finisher (to Caleb Surratt) at the 2021 Western Junior Championship.
