Born and raised in San Jose, California. Moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina when he was 17 years old.
Got his start in golf on the 9-hole par-3 course at Santa Teresa Golf Club, and eventually graduated to Cinnabar Hills Golf Club, where he developed his game under the tutelage of assistant pro Fred Garcia.
Amateur Highlights
Earned PGA TOUR membership through PGA TOUR University Accelerated, crossing the 20-point threshold with a top-10 finish at the 2025 NCAA Championship. Officially turned professional and accepted PGA TOUR membership after the 2026 U.S. Open, his final event as an amateur. Followed Gordon Sargent and Luke Clanton as the third player to earn PGA TOUR membership through PGA TOUR University Accelerated.
Turned professional in June 2026 after three record-setting seasons at Auburn University (2023-26), where he swept the three national player of the year awards (Ben Hogan Award, Jack Nicklaus Award, Fred Haskins Award) in both 2024 and 2026, was a three-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year (2024, 2025, 2026), and broke school records for career wins (11), career scoring average (68.89), and single-season scoring average (68.20 as a junior in 2025-26).
Recorded top-10 finishes in three consecutive starts on the PGA TOUR in 2025 (T6/ISCO Championship, T5/Wyndham Championship, T4/Procore Championship).
Earned the 2025 Mark H. McCormack Medal, presented annually to the No. 1 player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking following the U.S. Amateur or European Amateur (whichever finishes last). Previous recipients include Nick Taylor (2009), Patrick Cantlay (2011), Matt Fitzpatrick (2013), Jon Rahm (2015), Maverick McNealy (2016), and Joaquin Niemann (2017).
Recorded one of the best seasons in collegiate history in 2024, becoming the first freshman in history to win all four major collegiate awards -- Ben Hogan Award, Jack Nicklaus Award, Fred Haskins Award, Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award -- in the same season. Also went 3-0 in match play as he led Auburn to the team national title, the first in program history, at the 2024 NCAA Championship.
Collegiate victories included three consecutive individual titles at the SEC Championship (2024, 2025, 2026).
Quarterfinalist at the 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship; he was eliminated by eventual champion Nick Dunlap.
Runner-up finisher at the 2022 Junior PLAYERS Championship.
Represented the United States the 2022 Junior Presidents Cup, 2024 and 2025 Arnold Palmer Cups, and 2025 Walker Cup.
Won the 2021 Northern California Junior Championship. Past winners of the event include Ken Venturi (1949), Johnny Miller (1963), and Bobby Clampett (1976).
