Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he graduated from University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy (Class of 2011), which is just two miles from Detroit Golf Club, host of the Rocket Classic.

Grew up playing at Detroit Golf Club, where his father was a member for nearly two decades. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, Joe would spend all day at the club while his father worked at a supermarket in nearby Rosedale Park.

Played one season (2011-12) at Wayne State University, an NCAA Division II program in Detroit.

Made his PGA TOUR debut at the 2025 Rocket Classic; he earned a sponsor exemption with his victory at the 2025 JOHN SHIPPEN Men's Invitational presented by Rocket -- a 36-hole stroke-play competition at Detroit Golf Club.
