His uncle, Jeff Feagles, was an NFL punter for 22 seasons (1988-2009), winning Super Bowl XLII (2007-08) with the New York Giants, who beat the undefeated New England Patriots. He was also a two-time Pro Bowl selection (1995, 2008) and holds NFL records for most punt yards, most punts, and most consecutive games played.
His grandpa, John, played collegiate golf at Notre Dame; he built Michael's first set of clubs and took him to the golf course every Sunday to practice and play.
Amateur Highlights
Finished No. 7 in the inaugural PGA TOUR University Class of 2021.
Played five seasons at University of Illinois (2016-21), where he was a five-time All-Big Ten First Team selection and the 2021 Les Bolstad Award winner as the Big Ten Conference leader in stroke average (70.83).
Finished his Illini career with the fourth-best career scoring average in school history (71.8). His 70.55 average during his final year at Illinois is the lowest single-season average in school history, breaking a record previously established by 2020-21 Korn Ferry Tour graduate Nick Hardy.
Won a pair of college tournaments between 2019 and 2021. First win came at the 2019 NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Defeated Edwin Yi by a shot. At the 2021 Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, held a five-shot advantage with 18 holes to play, shot a final-round 66, and beat runner-up Jerry Ji by eight strokes.
Won the 2020 Grand Canyon University Championship on the Outlaw Tour during his fifth-year senior season at University of Illinois.
