Personal

Earliest golf memory is Carl Pettersson giving him his ball at a college tournament when he was 3 years old. Novak still has it at home; it has a North Carolina State logo on it.

First job was a range assistant at 16 years old.

Has been on SportsCenter top-10 plays in the past.

2017 Wofford Intramural Basketball champion.

Inducted into the Wofford College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022. Another notable inductee is P.J. Boatwright Jr., who played golf at Wofford in the 1940s and was inducted into the Wofford College Hall of Fame in 1979. Boatwright is most known for succeeding Joseph Dey as Executive Director of the United States Golf Association in 1969, when Dey left the organization to become the first commissioner of the PGA TOUR. Boatrwight was later acknowledged as one of the world's foremost experts on the Rules of Golf, which he helped revise in 1984. Boatwright passed away in 1991 at the age of 63.

In September 2023, started an NFL-focused fantasy football and gambling podcast -- The ScreenPlay -- with Evan Grenus, a former men's golf teammate at Wofford College. After a friend bailed on the project, Grenus reached out to Novak and asked if he would temporarily co-host the podcast. Novak agreed to co-host, though he insisted it not be temporary. Novak later said of his co-hosting duties, "I always though it was something that would be fun to do, just talk some football. I watch the games... and I understand the game pretty well. It's just something fun that I do on Tuesdays."

Would love to coach football when he retires from golf.

Amateur Highlights

Played four seasons at Wofford College (2013-17) in Spartanburg, South Carolina; he was credited with four collegiate victories and was a three-time All-Southern Conference selection, as well as the 2017 Southern Conference Player of the Year.
