Jimmy's full name, Raymond James Stanger, is a tribute to his grandfather, who served in World War II.

Was home schooled but competed for the Gaither High School golf team.

Actively supports Birdies For Hope, First Tee of Tampa and Clearwater, the Chi-Chi Rodriguez Foundation, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and is closely involved with his home church, Grace Community Church.

Aspirations outside of golf include reading, personal fitness, and the Birdies For Hope charity -- which he began in 2020 in an effort to build churches and hope centers in third-world countries around the world.

Non-golf related jobs include full time summer internships while in college, at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in D.C. in 2015 and at Raymond James Financial in 2016.

Regarding his earliest golf memories, he states, "I remember winning the Greater Tampa Junior Golf Association Tournament of Champions in a playoff when I was 9 , and celebrating with my dad and grandpa. And when I was 12-13, I worked the range and was a standard bearer at the Valspar Championship. To be inside the ropes with professional golfers was an experience I will never forget."

Of having superstitions on the course, he says, "I mark my golf ball with the Initials, H.A. in memory of my best friend growing up, Harris Armstrong, who died of spinal cord cancer when he was 12."

Father, James, works as an independent financial advisor with Raymond James Financial. Mother, Teri, serves on the board of the Foundation of American Christian Education and other organizations and charities surrounding education in Tampa, Florida.

Little sister, Theresa Maylei Stanger, was adopted from China by the Stanger family when she was 11 months old; she played golf at Wheaton College, an NCAA Division III program.

First tee walk-up song would be AC/DC's "Thunderstruck".

In his win at the 2017 ACC Championship, birdied the final hole of regulation to tie Clemson's Bryson Nimmer, North Carolina's Ben Griffin, and Wake Forest's Paul McBride atop the individual standings; he won the four-man playoff with another birdie.
