Personal

Due to the pronunciation of his name, has been dubbed as "Hard K."

Grew up in Basalt, Colorado, a town in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Attended the Colorado School of Mines where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Played on his high school basketball team for three seasons.

From 2006 through 2008, had a job as a pizza parlor delivery driver.

In his college years, attended the WM Phoenix Open with college friends; they would make the drive from Colorado to Arizona and wake up at 5 a.m. to rush over to No. 16.

Enjoys hiking, exercising and cooking.

Claims hidden talents are cooking, Sudoku, and ping pong.

Loves pickleball.

Pulls for all of the Denver-area professional sports teams including the Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies.

Favorite player growing up was Ernie Els. Recalls meeting Jack Nicklaus as a kid in a cafe in his hometown of Basalt.

Speaks Spanish.

Amateur Highlights

Played for four seasons at Colorado School of Mines (2008-12), an NCAA Division II program in Golden, Colorado, where he won nine times individually (five times as a senior) and helped the program reach the NCAA Division II Championships as a team for the first time in school history his senior season (2011-12).

Outstanding senior season (2011-12) included an All-America Second Team selection, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year recognition, and a fourth consecutive All-RMAC First Team laurel,

Runner-up finisher at the 2012 NCAA Division II Championship; he finished two strokes ahead of Korn Ferry Tour winner Ben Taylor (then at Nova Southeastern University) in solo third, but lost a playoff for the individual title to Korn Ferry Tour winner Joshua Creel from University of Central Oklahoma.
