Hometown is Madison, Connecticut where he remembers attending the PGA TOUR's Travelers Championship in Hartford as a child.

Amateur Highlights
Played four seasons at University of Florida (2002-06), with his two collegiate victories coming at the 2003 and 2006 Southeastern Conference Championships; he also garnered an All-America Second Team selection in 2006 and three All-SEC laurels (First Team in 2003 and 2006, Second Team in 2005).
Became the sixth player in program history to win multiple individual SEC Championships, joining Camilo Benedetti (1999, 2002), Brian Gay (1992, 1994), Phil Hancock (1975, 1976), Gary Koch (1973, 1974), and Tommy Aaron (1957, 1958).
Led Florida to the team title at the 2003 SEC Championship.
Advanced to the Round of 32 at the 2005 U.S. Amateur Championship at Merion Golf Club; he previously fell to eventual champion Ricky Barnes in the Round of 64 at the 2002 U.S. Amateur at Oakland Hills Country Club.
