TPC Sawgrass No. 17 highlights from Round 4 of THE PLAYERS
ROUND 4
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Round 4 at THE PLAYERS Championship brought cooler conditions and gustier winds. A total of 17 balls hit the water on No. 17, the most of any round this year.
Jhonattan Vegas drained a 70-foot birdie for the longest putt ever made on the Island Green. Formerly held by Bernhard Langer in 2008 with a putt of 59 feet, 9 inches.

ROUND 2
Tiger Woods had pushed his way into the top 10 at THE PLAYERS Championship and then disaster struck at the iconic par-3 17th island green on Friday.
The 80-time PGA TOUR winner was three under on his round through seven holes and just two back of the lead when he overcooked his tee shot with a pitching wedge and watched it roll over the back of the green and into the water.
Things would get worse from there for the two-time FedExCup champion.
Woods decided against reteeing and headed to the drop zone.
His first attempt from the shame circle took one bounce and again found a watery grave before his fifth shot found the putting surface.
“I figured I can handle an 80-yard shot and obviously I can't,” Woods deadpanned when asked why he didn’t just reload from the tee.
Two putts later and Woods had a quadruple bogey seven, his worst ever score on the hole in what is his 69th competitive round at TPC Sawgrass.
“I was pretty ticked, no doubt about that,” Woods said of the 17th.
Before this week the two-time PLAYERS winner had just four total water balls at the 17th hole.

ROUND 1
Can’t get much better at the 17th hole than Ryan Moore’s shot Thursday. His hole-in-one is the ninth in the history of THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass’ island green.
Moore used a 54-degree sand wedge to record the fifth ace in his career.
“I was just waiting to go see where the ball went and then no ball showed up,” Moore said after finishing his round of 67. “So then from there, obviously we got excited. Couldn't have a more amazing hole to have an ace on, obviously one of the most iconic holes in golf.”
There were other highlights – and, as usual, a few lowlights (sorry, Paul Casey – two balls in the water) in the first round.
