Scotty Cameron’s new Phantom X putter line from Titleist

The prototype putters that Adam Scott and a number of other PGA TOUR pros have put into play over the last few weeks are now coming to retail as part of Scotty Cameron’s new Phantom X putter line. The Phantom X putter line – consisting of nine different models – are made with milled 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum faces and 303 stainless steel bodies with “enhanced vibration dampening” technology for better feel.
Within the Phantom X line are five different head models and different shaft options. As for the head models, there’s a Phantom X 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12 that have a mid-bend shaft. There’s also a 5.5, 7.5 and an 8.5 that have the same head shapes as their full number counterparts, except the 0.5 heads have a low-bend shaft that produces more toe flow to promote an arc in the stroke, according to Titleist. Then, there’s a 6STR model that has the head shape of the 6, except the 6STR has a straight shaft with no offset.
Each of the putter heads has two stainless steel toe weights, and they have been anodized black with a misted finish. For alignment on the top of the putters are Scotty’s familiar three-dots, except these are double-milled with neon yellow interiors with a ring of silver-colored aluminum. There are also options for a few different toplines instead of the sight dots, including a topline that stretches the length of the crown, a wider topline, and a “vanishing” top line.
Here’s a brief description of each putter head, from Titleist.
Phantom X 5
“The evolution of this Tour-proven wingback mallet with a single mid-bend shaft continues with a solid aluminum face anodized in black that extends back into the stepped down flange, framed by misted stainless steel. Phantom X 5.5

Phantom X 6

Phantom X 6STR

Phantom X 7
“A single mid-bend-shafted, near-face balanced setup, Phantom X 7 features a heel-to-toe tapered aluminum face that is sculpted into a raised center flange for a continuous, connected surface from the leading edge all the way back. Framed by stepped down, angular stainless steel components, the Phantom X7 combines the benefits of long flange sight lines with a semi-traditional topline for easy horizontal and vertical alignment at setup. Also available in a left-handed model.”
Phantom X 7.5

Phantom X 8

Phantom X 8.5

The new Phantom X putters comes with a Pistlero Plus grip in cement gray with black paintfill, which is made to be less-tapered on the low hand. They will sell for $429 each starting on April 12.
