Each year, the PGA TOUR and its tournaments raise millions of dollars for charity, with more than $2.14 billion raised to date. Now tournament fans can get in on the charitable giving by participating in the PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge.
Co-created by Astellas and the PGA TOUR in 2015, the PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge is a friendly-competition among participating PGA TOUR tournaments. It was designed to raise funds for local charities while recognizing the talent, passion and commitment of the TOUR’s more than 100,000 volunteers nationwide.
Fans are encouraged to visit PGATOUR.COM/Volunteers and vote for their favorite volunteer or participating tournament.
Top-ranking tournaments will earn additional charitable funding from Astellas based on the total number of votes earned collectively by volunteers and the tournament.
The volunteer with the most votes on tournament Saturday, May 13, will be named the winner and earns the opportunity to present a $10,000 check to The First Tee of North Florida in his or her name. THE PLAYERS Championship will provide an additional $2,500 for the winner to donate to a charity in Northeast Florida.
Voting takes place Monday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, May 14, at 1 p.m. ET. Vote here for your favorite volunteer at THE PLAYERS or for THE PLAYERS as your favorite PGA TOUR event.
Don’t know a volunteer? New this year, THE PLAYERS has initiated a Tournament Leadership Challenge. THE PLAYERS tournament chairman, Kevin English, along with his vice-chairmen, Damon Olinto, Adam Campbell, Scot Winter, Andy Carroll and Troy Smith will enter the PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge and compete for the most votes.
