Chesson Hadley won the Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com in his rookie season on the PGA TOUR in 2014, earning him his first trip to Kapalua and the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
“It'll be nice to sleep on it, and you know, wake up in the morning knowing I'm a PGA TOUR champion and nobody can ever take that away from me,” Hadley said following his victory. “It's very special, and especially to do it down here in Puerto Rico. That was fantastic. And I'm just very grateful.”
Hadley’s win early in the season made his road to Kapalua relatively painless, as he went on to record four top-10 finishes on his way to being named PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year.
The year prior, Hadley recorded two victories on the Web.com Tour and racked up the second-best single-season total in Web.com Tour history to earn his PGA TOUR membership.
Hadley is a former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket and met his wife, Amanda, in elementary school. If he could choose his last meal, it would include a Ruth’s Chris filet, McDonald’s French fries, Bojangles Chicken Supremes and movie-theater popcorn for dessert.
