PGA TOUR adds Puerto Rico Open to '08 schedule

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The PGA TOUR announced Monday a new tournament for the 2008 TOUR schedule, the Puerto Rico Open presented by Banco Popular, to be held March 17-23, 2008, and hosted by the Puerto Rico Golf Association at the Tom Kite designed Coco Beach Golf & Country Club -- Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Coco Beach Golf & Country Club is comprised of four unique and challenging nines, a compilation of which will serve as the host course for the event.

The tournament, the first full-field sanctioned PGA TOUR event in Puerto Rico, will be worth 12,500 FedExCup points and have a purse of $3.5 million. The winner will earn 2,250 FedExCup points and $630,000. The tournament represents a five-year agreement and is scheduled opposite the World Golf Championships-CA Championship.
