Bob Vokey is used to receiving feedback from players on his wedge designs. Sometimes that feedback leads to a new design, as it did with the V Grind -- a dual bounce wedge that came about through Vokey's highly popular M Grind.

“One request we keep getting on TOUR is, 'I love the shape of the M grind, but I’d like some more bounce,'" said master wedge craftsman Bob Vokey. "It got me thinking about one of my original grinds. The V Grind is one design that provides more bounce forward on the sole, with enhanced relief in the heel, trailing edge and toe. It’s a really versatile wedge around the green.”

Available through WedgeWorks, the Vokey Design V Grind ($195 per wedge) offers increased bounce on square face shots, and enhanced relief for open faced shots.

The square face provides a high measured forward bounce on the sole for full shots, making it a good option for players with a steep angle of attack. However, when the face is opened, the wedge produces increased versatility through heel, toe, and trailing edge sole relief. The wedge is ideal for normal to soft course conditions.

"The forward bounce of the V Grind is essential in helping players lower ball flight on full and square faced shots," said Vokey Tour rep Aaron Dill. "The grind in the back of the wedge allows players to open the wedge and hug the ground a little easier for tight lies around the green. Tour players are always looking for lower flight but still need to have options around the green when hitting off of firm, tight turf."

The wedge is offered in two finishes (Brushed Chrome and Oil Can) and four lofts (54, 56, 58 and 60 degrees) with 10 degrees of bounce.

Players currently using the V Grind on TOUR include Robert Streb and Ben Crane.

As part of the WedgeWorks program, each V Grind wedge can be personalized with up to eight characters and one of 12 paintfill colors. Custom grips, ferrules and shaft bands will also be offered.
