For more than a decade, TaylorMade staffers have arrived at Augusta National Golf Club with a special staff bag to commemorates the year's first major championship. Sticking with the yearly tradition, the company unveiled its 2016 "season opener" bag this week that features a shade of green every golfer in the field hopes to don come Sunday evening.
Designed around the iconic green jacket, the bag includes a couple of special touches. For instance, the inside of a Masters green jacket has the winner's name in script, so for the first time, TaylorMade decided to feature its players' names on the bag in script instead of the traditional block lettering that's been used in the past.
Sticking with the green jacket theme, the pocket linings match the yellow ring around the Masters logo on the jacket, and the T-bug buttons and zippers on the bag pay homage to the jacket's gold buttons.
Another departure from recent TaylorMade major offerings is the addition of a green name panel that matches the rest of the bag. Over the years, a white panel has been used to make it stand out from the rest of the bag.
In the past, TaylorMade has offered a limited quantity of major staff bags at retail. However, this year they decided to make it a Tour-only version. There's still a possibility that a few could be available through TaylorMade's Vault after the tournament.
