Equipment Report

By Jonathan Wall, PGATOUR.COM Equipment Insider

Bubba Watson's PING G25 driver received a fresh look for his first start of the year at the Farmers Insurance Open. After using a similar G25 last season with a hot pink crown, Watson made slight tweaks to the head with the addition of white racing stripes and a unique torched finish.

If the racing stripes look familiar, it's because they normally reside on the crown of PING's recently released i25 driver -- the stripes on i25 are black -- and help with alignment. According to PING Tour rep Matt Rollins, Watson tested out a couple of G25 heads with different colored stripes before settling on white.

Watson also had torched finish added to the sole and face of the driver that reflects purple and pink hues in the sunlight. The look is similar to the finish on Watson's PING Anser 1 Milled putter.

Along with the new racing stripes and finish, the driver still features a custom Grafalloy Tour Prototype BiMatrix shaft and the words "Made Exclusively for Bubba" on the shaft and crown.

PING released a custom limited-edition version of Watson's pink G20 driver a few years back but made no indication that this version would be coming to retail. In other words, enjoy the one-of-a-kind driver from the comfort of your couch.
