    Darren Clarke and Michael Wright each matched 7-under 65s to share the first-round lead at the Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO.

    Darren Clarke, 34-31 – 65 (7 under)

    • Eagled two of his last four holes (Nos. 15 and 18), playing the par 5s in 6-under for the day, en route to an opening 7-under 65.
    • This is his low 18-hole score at Tiburón Golf Club (13th round).
      • Previous low: 67 (2025/R1)
      • Note: Carded 65 in the final round of the 2020 Chubb Classic, played at The Classics at Lely Resort.
      • Tiburón Golf Club has hosted the Chubb Classic since 2021.
    • The 57-year-old seeks his sixth win on PGA TOUR Champions (152nd start).
      • Last win: 2025 American Family Insurance Championship (team event with partner Thomas Bjørn)
      • Last win in an individual event: 2022 ISPS HANDA Senior Open

    • The 51-year-old Australian seeks his first win on PGA TOUR Champions (45th start).
      • Best finish: T5 (two times; 2024 Sanford International, 2025 DICK’S Open)
    • This is his second time leading/co-leading after the first round on PGA TOUR Champions (0-for-1).
      • Co-led at the 2024 Invited Celebrity Classic (finished T53) – 36-hole event
      • Led the field in birdies (nine)
    • Making his second appearance at the Chubb Classic, he finished T12 in 2025.

    Other notes

    • Defending champion Justin Leonard (T3) tallied eight birdies en route to opening with 66. His position-by-round in his last four rounds at the Chubb Classic is T8-first-Won-T3.
      • Ranks T1 in the field in putts per green in regulation (25 on 16)
    • Despite a double-bogey on No. 17, 2020 Chubb Classic winner Scott Parel birdied Nos. 11-15 on his way to 6-under 66.
    • Ricardo Gonzalez (T3) closed with eagle on No. 18 to shoot 6-under 66. His lone victory on PGA TOUR Champions came in the month of February at the 2024 Trophy Hassan II.
    • Rob Labritz (T3) birdied Nos. 11-14 to post 6-under 66 in his 82nd start on PGA TOUR Champions.
    • Making his PGA TOUR Champions debut, Naples native George McNeill (T23) birdied his first three holes en route to 2-under 70. McNeill turned 50 years old on Oct. 2, 2025.
    • Five-time Chubb Classic champion (2011, 2013, 2016, 2022, 2023) and World Golf Hall-of-Fame member Bernhard Langer (T34) opened with 1-under 71.
      • He is one win shy of tying the PGA TOUR Champions record for most wins at one event (Hale Irwin earned six wins at the Turtle Bay Championship).
