Neal Shipley’s electrifying birdie to win the LECOM Suncoast Classic
The 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Season continues with the LECOM Suncoast Classic, the eighth tournament of the 25-event schedule and the second event in the United States this season. The field at Lakewood National Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, includes 15 PGA TOUR winners with 33 total victories, led by Jonathan Byrd and Carl Pettersson with five wins apiece. Neal Shipley earned his maiden Korn Ferry Tour title here in 2025 with a birdie on the fifth playoff hole.
The tournament features 65 Korn Ferry Tour winners with 101 career victories, led by Ben Kohles and Robby Shelton with four wins apiece. Two past champions of the LECOM Suncoast Classic are in this week's field: Hayden Buckley (2021) and Scott Gutschewski (2023).
Five players in the field stand in the top 200 of the Official World Golf Ranking: Ian Holt (No. 110), Davis Lamb (No. 151), Taylor Montgomery (No. 170), Blades Brown (No. 173) and Alistair Docherty (No. 186). Two 17-year-old amateurs are also in this week's field: Miles Russell, who gained entry via a top-25 finish last week at the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club, and Lucas Gimenez, who earned a sponsor exemption with a victory at the 100th New Year's Invitational at St. Petersburg Country Club.
Notables in the field
- Blades Brown, the youngest Korn Ferry Tour member this season at 18 years of age, stands No. 22 on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Points List following a solo-third finish at last week's Club Car Championship, where he became the youngest 54-hole leader/co-leader in Korn Ferry Tour history. Brown previously finished T51 as a sponsor exemption at the 2025 LECOM Suncoast Classic en route to finishing No. 68 on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List.
- Ian Gilligan, now in his first full season on Tour after a No. 4 finish in the 2025 PGA TOUR University Ranking, logged his third top-five finish of the season at last week's Club Car Championship (solo fourth). Gilligan stands No. 9 on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Points List with four top 10s in seven starts this season. Hunter Eichhorn is the only other player on Tour with four top 10s this season.
- In his 34th career start on Korn Ferry Tour, Davis Lamb won the 2026 Club Car Championship for his first Korn Ferry Tour title. Lamb's previous career-high finish on Tour was T11 at the 2024 Astara Chile Classic. Lamb earned Korn Ferry Tour membership for the 2026 season with a No. 3 finish on the 2025 PGA TOUR Americas Points List. Lamb previously finished No. 120 on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Points List as a rookie, logging two top 25s in 25 starts.
- Ian Holt stands No. 1 on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Points List off the strength of back-to-back victories at The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club and The Panama Championship, the second and third events of the season. With a third victory, Holt would earn an automatic promotion to the PGA TOUR via the Three-Victory Promotion. Matt McCarty (2024) was the last player to achieve the Three-Victory Promotion.
