CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Steven Alker won the Rogers Charity Classic on Sunday for his second victory of the year and 12th overall on the PGA Tour Champions, beating Y.E. Yang with a 7-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff.
A day after matching the tournament record at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club with a 9-under 61, the 55-year-old Alker closed with a 5-under 65 to match Yang at 16-under 194. Yang shot a 63.
Alker, from New Zealand, also won the Cologuard Classic in March in Tucson, Arizona, beating Padraig Harrington in a playoff on the first extra hole.
Jerry Kelly (63) and Zach Johnson (65) tied for third.
Second-round leader Ryan Armour had a 69 to tie for fifth at 13 under.
