Advanced to the BMW Championship for the second time, and first since 2013, before ending the season at No. 59 in the FedExCup standings, his first career top-60 result in the standings. In addition to his victory, recorded a top-10 at the RBC Heritage (T8) in his first start after a three-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Made 10 cuts in 20 starts.

Won the 3M Open by two strokes over Adam Long to earn his second PGA TOUR title. Victory came 7 years, 4 months, 23 days since winning The Honda Classic in 2013. Improved to 1-for-2 with the 36-hole lead/co-lead and 2-for-3 with the 54-hole lead/co-lead (held a share of the lead after the second and third rounds). Led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (1.819 per round) and co-led in Par-4 Scoring Average (3.75). Qualified for the 2020 U.S. Open as one of the top two players, not otherwise exempt, in the top 10 and ties. Also earned a spot in the following week's World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
