The PGA Tour Americas season concludes this week at the Dominican Republic Tour Championship presented by Scotiabank, being played for the first time at PGA Ocean's 4 in Playa Nueva Romana.
The top 60 players on the Points List qualified for the 72-hole, no-cut finale, and after Sunday's final round, the top 10 players on the season-long Points List will earn Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2027. Additionally, finishers Nos. 1-10 earn exemptions into Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School presented by Korn Ferry this December, and players Nos. 11-25 are exempt into Second Stage.
Through their play in the first 14 events on PGA Tour Americas this season, the top four players on the points list – Thomas Ponder, Corey Pereira, Étienne Papineau and Patrick Flavin – have secured their position in the top 10 of the final standings and earned Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2027.
The remaining six Korn Ferry Tour cards will be decided this week, and a finish in “The 10” is possible for all tournament entrants, as the tournament winner earns 600 points (compared to 500 points in the regular season). Drew Doyle currently holds the 10th and final position in “The 10” with 742 points, while Mesa Falleur enters the week No. 60 with 238 points.
Player notes
Thomas Ponder (Dothan, Alabama) opened the season with seven straight top-20 finishes, including five top 10s, before breaking through with a victory at the Explore NB Open. The third-year pro out of the University of Alabama has topped the Points List each week since his victory in July, and he added third-place finishes at the Commissionaires Ottawa Open presented by Lépine Apartments and the Osprey Valley Open.
Corey Pereira (Sacramento, California) is No. 2 on the Points List, 116 points behind Ponder, and has earned a return to the Korn Ferry Tour after previously holding membership in 2022 and 2019. In June, the 31-year-old won the Mexico Championship presented by Scotia Wealth Management in just his sixth Tour-sanctioned start since his wife, Leah, died from a rare and highly aggressive sarcoma. He has maintained his position in the top 10 since that win, and his season record includes six top-five finishes and the Tour’s second-best scoring average (67.42).
Étienne Papineau (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec) won the Osprey Valley Open in July and then the Digital Commerce Group Open three events later, becoming the season’s only two-time winner. The fifth-year pro opened the year with five consecutive missed cuts and extended his season with a T2 finish at the Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship in June, the final event before the first eligibility reorder for conditional members.
Charlie Crockett (Surrey, England) closed the regular season with a win at the ATB Classic presented by Building Trades of Alberta, his first PGA Tour Americas win in his 29th start. The third-year member has six top-10 finishes in 12 starts this season and enters the week No. 6 on the Points List.
Patrick Sheehan (Doylestown, Pennsylvania) has spent nine of 14 weeks this season inside the top 10 on the Points List, but enters the Dominican Republic Tour Championship at No. 11, just nine points behind 10th-ranked Drew Doyle. Sheehan has eight top-25 finishes and four top 10s, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Abierto del Centro Zurich presentado por Personal.
Daniel Svärd (Stockholm, Sweden) won the Manitoba Open in August in only his fourth pro start since turning pro in June. The Northwestern University graduate finished No. 19 in the PGA Tour University Class of 2026 to earn membership, and he is No. 19 on the Points List in only seven starts this summer.
In all, five players from the PGA Tour University Class of 2026 qualified for the Dominican Republic Tour Championship: Svärd (No. 19 on the Points List), Lance Simpson (No. 21), Bryan Lee (No. 34), Matthew Kress (No. 47) and Mesa Falleur (No. 60).
