Kyle Cottam (Knoxville, Tennessee) tallied 10 birdies and an eagle on Saturday, holing his second shot from 108 yards on the par-4 16th at Uplands Golf Club in Victoria, British Columbia, en route to a 12-under 58 in the third round of the Digital Commerce Group Open. It is the lowest 18-hole score on PGA Tour Americas since the inaugural season in 2024, and Cottam leads by two at 19 under entering Sunday’s final round.

“I was absolutely surprised. Obviously, you don't wake up in the morning and think you're going to shoot 58,” Cottam said. “I've been driving it great, which was surprising because today I didn't drive it very good, but everything else was obviously awesome. … Today was just my day.”

After opening with rounds of 68 and 65, Cottam made four twos (three birdies, one eagle) and got up and down for par on No. 18 to shoot 29-29 for a 58. A sixth-year pro out of Clemson (2017-22), Cottam earned membership for the first time this season via PGA Tour Americas Q-School in March. The rookie has four top 25s in 10 starts and entered the week at No. 51 on the points list.

Cottam leads by two over four players, and on Sunday he will be paired with Marcus Byrd (Temple Hills, Maryland), who carded a third-round 63. Byrd is a seventh-year pro who has 11 wins on the Advocates Professional Golf Association (APGA) Tour, including a four-stroke victory in July in the APGA at TPC Deere Run.

Also in the four-way tie for second at 17 under is Thomas Longbella (Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin), Charlie Nikitas (Glenview, Illinois) and Wil Gibson (Jonesboro, Arkansas).

Sebastian Moss (Pearland, Texas) nearly added his name to the sub-60 list, too, as he birdied his last three holes to shoot a 10-under 60 on Saturday. He’s part of a six-way tie for sixth at 16 under, three strokes behind Cottam.

At last year’s Digital Commerce Group Open, A.J. Ewart carded a 59 in the second round and finished runner-up, losing in a playoff to Drew Nesbitt. In all, six players have shot sub-60 rounds on PGA Tour Americas.
