Étienne Papineau wins Osprey Valley Open in playoff

After a final-round 63, Étienne Papineau (St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada) survived a two-hole playoff against Jack Lundin (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) to capture the victory at the Osprey Valley Open, his first victory on PGA TOUR Americas. With the win at TPC Toronto, Papineau moves to No. 5 on the PGA TOUR Americas Points List with five events remaining before the top-10 players earn Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2027.

“It's just such a relief,” said Papineau. “The last year, to be honest, has been a struggle. I was basically one tournament away from losing my card, but, you know, I just kept telling myself to keep believing even if it's hard sometimes. I was able to find my confidence back and play well this week and ended up on top.”

Beginning the final round three shots back of the leader at 13 under, Papineau birdied two of his first three holes to start the day and added birdies on Nos. 6 and 9 to climb the leaderboard. He moved into a share of the lead at 19 under with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 15 and 16, joining Lundin, who had already posted 19 under in the clubhouse. Papineau's charge came after 54-hole leader Connor Howe (Ogden, Utah) stumbled with a bogey on No. 14 and a double bogey on No. 15, dropping back to 17 under.

After a par on the 72nd hole to force a playoff, Papineau and Lundin returned to the par-4 18th. Papineau found a fairway bunker off the tee on the first playoff hole but recovered by hitting his third shot to 8 feet and converting the par putt to extend the playoff. On the second extra hole, Lundin found trouble off the tee and was unable to save par, while Papineau rolled in a par putt to secure the PGA TOUR Americas victory.

After starting the season with five straight missed cuts, Papineau finished T2 at the Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship to start a streak of five straight made cuts, and now he’s the sixth Canadian to win on PGA TOUR Americas and the second this season.

"Seeing my friends here and my family celebrating with me on 18 was just like a dream come true,” Papineau said. “You always dream of having a putt to win and then celebrating with your family and it ended up happening.”

Lundin carded his low round of the tournament on Sunday, a 7-under 63, recording four birdies and eagles on Nos. 9 and 10. The runner-up finish moved him to No. 4 in the PGA TOUR Americas Points List and marked his third top-five finish of the season.

Thomas Ponder (Dothan, Alabama) maintained his No. 1 position on the points list, finishing the week tied for third with Howe at 18-under 262. Ponder closed with a final-round 66, while Howe carded a 1-under 69. Joining Papineau in the top five is fellow Canadian Piercen Hunt, who finished the week tied for fifth at 17-under 263, with Luke Long and Sebastian Moss.

After a three-week break, PGA TOUR Americas will travel to Springfield, Manitoba, on August 20-23 for the 11th event of the season – the Manitoba Open.
