Before the PGA TOUR Americas season resumes next week with the Beachlands Victoria Open presented by Times Colonist, let’s revisit five of the best moments from the Latin America Swing.
Here are the top five moments from the 2024 Latin America Swing.
1. Harry Hillier cards a 59 in the second round of the Inter Rapídisimo Golf Championship to win in historic fashion
Hillier carded a 13-under 59 for the first sub-60 round in PGA TOUR Americas history, which also set the course record at Club El Rincón. The New Zealand native made 13 birdies without making a bogey in his historic round en route to a dominant eight-stroke victory to close out the Latin America Swing.
2. Clay Feagler wins BUPA Championship at Tulum after Monday Qualifying
Feagler started the year as a conditional member and earned his spot in the field as a Monday Qualifier. After playing 95 holes of golf over the duration of the week, Feagler went on to defeat Korn Ferry Tour member Davis Shore on the fourth hole in a playoff to win the inaugural event in PGA TOUR Americas history, securing exempt membership for the remainder of the season.
3. Matthew Anderson sinks go-ahead putt on 72nd hole to secure victory
Following a T3 finish at the Totalplay Championship at Atlas Country Club, Anderson carried his momentum with him to the Rio Olympic Golf Course. The Mississauga, Ontario native opened with an 8-under 63 and a 6-under 65 in the first and second rounds of the 54-hole shortened event but stumbled out of the gate in the final round . Anderson teed off on No. 17 down by one and responded by converting back-to-back birdies on his final two holes to secure his maiden victory as a professional.
4. José de Jesús Rodríguez wins Totalplay Championship at Atlas Country Club, his third straight victory in Guadalajara
After winning the 2022 and 2023 Jalisco Open at Atlas Country Club on PGA TOUR Latinoamérica, Rodríguez returned as the undisputed favorite in Guadalajara. Rodríguez took the 54-hole lead and didn’t relinquish it in the final round to claim his third straight title at Atlas Country Club.
5. Stuart Macdonald wins Diners Club Peru Open with his dad on the bag
Macdonald’s success in Peru dates back to his amateur career. The Vancouver native won the 29th Lima Golf Club International Amateur Championship in 2017 and had made the cut in his two previous starts at the Diners Club Peru Open which included a T14 finish in 2023. With his father on the bag, Macdonald broke through once again in 2024, winning his second career PGA TOUR-sanctioned tournament.
