Passes time by playing Xbox with friends; he plays mostly Apex Legends, but is also known to play Call of Duty.
Soccer was his primary sport until his freshman year of high school, and he earned 10 varsity letters at Forest Hills Eastern High School in Ada, Michigan: four in golf, two apiece in soccer, basketball, football.
Father, Steve, earned a doctorate from Michigan State University, where Zach planned to enroll as a general student until Cleveland State University's golf program had a late decommitment from its recruiting class. Zach was one of the only uncommitted seniors in the region and accepted an offer to play golf at Cleveland State.
Earliest golf memory is winning a small local golf tournament the same day as his older brother, Nick, around the time Zach was age 6 and his brother was age 9.
Older brother, Nick, competed in track and field at University of Michigan.
Favorite athletes are Luka Doncic, Tiger Woods and Jason Day.
Amateur Highlights
Played six seasons at Cleveland State University (2016-22), where he was a two-time All-Horizon League Second Team selection and a member of the 2017 and 2018 Horizon League Championship-winning teams.
Redshirted his first season (2016-17) and went on to post scoring averages of 79.0 (11 rounds in 2017-18), 74.6 (28 rounds in 2018-19), 73.0 (24 rounds in 2019-20), 76.4 (12 rounds in spring 2021), and 73.7 (27 rounds in 2021-22).
