Season Recap
2024 Season
Earned his first PGA TOUR victory in what was his third career start on TOUR at the inaugural Black Desert Championship, which propelled him to a No. 114 finish in the 2024 FedExCup Fall and earned him exemptions for the 2025 Sentry, 2025 PLAYERS Championship, 2025 Masters Tournament, and 2025 PGA Championship. One of 15 first-time PGA TOUR winners during the season. The victory on TOUR followed his three wins in a six-start stretch across July and August on the Korn Ferry Tour, which made him the 13th player in Korn Ferry Tour history to earn the Three-Victory Promotion (established in 1997) and granted him immediate eligibility for 2024 FedExCup Fall events. Followed Jason Gore as the second player in history to earn the Three-Victory Promotion and earn a PGA TOUR win in the same season, with Gore previously accomplishing the feat in 2005, winning three times on the Korn Ferry Tour and winning the 84 Lumber Classic on TOUR. Clinched the No. 1 position on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Points List one event prior to the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship; his No. 1 finish earned him exemptions for the 2025 PLAYERS Championship and 2025 U.S. Open. Broke the Korn Ferry Tour single-season scoring average record by a player with at least 60 rounds played, totaling a 68.38 average across 92 rounds and 25 starts on Tour.
Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper
Earned his first career Korn Ferry Tour win at the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper. Shared the 54-hole lead with Mark Goetz, but closed with a bogey-free 6-under 66 in the final round.
Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank and Intermountain Health
Totaled 19-under 123 for his second and third rounds at the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank and Intermountain Health, tying Stephan Jaeger's Korn Ferry Tour record for lowest 36-hole score in consecutive rounds with a 9-under 62 in the second round and 10-under 61 in the third round. Jaeger opened the 2016 Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae with rounds of 58 and 65 as he established the Tour record. McCarty eventually finished T2 at the Utah Championship.
Pinnacle Bank Championship presented by Woodhouse
Won his second Korn Ferry Tour title at the Pinnacle Bank Championship presented by Woodhouse, which marked his third start since his first Tour victory at the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper. Totaled 14-under 270 for a one-stroke victory at The Club at Indian Creek. Entered the final round four strokes behind the 54-hole leader, Danny Walker, and closed in 4-under 67 for the win. Played the first 15 holes of his final round without a bogey and at 6-under par before bogeys at the par-4 16th and 18th.
Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron
Won the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron at Hillcrest Country Club by two strokes at 21-under 263 for his third victory of the 2024 season, thus becoming the 13th player in Korn Ferry Tour history to earn the Three-Victory Promotion (established in 1997) and immediately join the PGA TOUR priority ranking. (In this case, McCarty became eligible to compete in 2024 FedExCup Fall events.) Became the first player to earn the Three-Victory Promotion since Mito Pereira (2020-21 -- which spanned two years as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic), and the first player to accomplish the feat in a single calendar year season since Wesley Bryan (2016). McCarty became the 24th player in Korn Ferry Tour history to win three times in a season. All three of McCarty's wins in 2024 came in a six-start stretch in July and August 2024.
Black Desert Championship
Won the Black Desert Championship, earning his first PGA TOUR victory in his third start at the age of 26 years, 10 months and 2 days. Marked fourth win in his last 10 combined starts on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA TOUR, becoming the second player to win TOUR in the same season after earning the Korn Ferry Tour’s Three-Victory Promotion (Jason Gore/2005 84 Lumber Classic). Became the fourth rookie to win on TOUR this season (fifth win), joining Nick Dunlap (2), Matthieu Pavon and Jake Knapp and third left-handed winner this season, joining Robert MacIntyre (RBC Canadian Open, Genesis Scottish Open) and Akshay Bhatia (Valero Texas Open).
