In eighth grade, he moved to Kentucky and Longview Golf Club was on his route to school; he looked at the course on the way to school and wanted to play, and later that summer he and his dad went to play and he loved it.

Played collegiately for four seasons at Belmont University (2012-16), where he won six times individually and, in 2015, became the first golfer in program history to earn an NCAA Championships berth.

Named the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, and was a three-time All-OVC First Team selection (2014-16). Was also an All-America Scholar in 2015 and 2016.
