Father, Andre Metzger, is a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (inducted 2017); he wrestled collegiately from 1979-82 at University of Oklahoma, where he was a four-time All-American and two-time NCAA Champion at 142 pounds. Internationally, Metzger won two bronze medals (1979, 1987) and a silver medal (1986) at the World Championships, along with two gold medals (1979, 1987) at the Pan American Games.

Has worked as a Barros Pizza delivery driver and as a caddie at Scottsdale, Arizona's Whisper Rock Golf Club.
