Grew up in a mining town in Western Australia and his earliest golf memory was hitting golf balls with a makeshift club his dad built from rocks and stones; the club was about a foot long with a garden hose as the grip and a hickory shaft, and he believes it is the reason behind his excellent bunker play now.

Fan of the West Coast Eagles (Australian Football League), and his favorite athletes include Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Michael Jordan, Lionel Messi, and Stephen Curry.
