Matthew NeSmith interview after winning Albertsons Boise Open
Matthew NeSmith has rotated five different putters this year, but the flat stick was on fire throughout this week’s Albertsons Boise Open.
The University of South Carolina alum made 23 birdies over the first 71 holes at venerable Hillcrest CC, arriving at the par-4 18th hole Sunday needing birdie to post 19-under, the score that would be ultimately good enough for his first Korn Ferry Tour title.
The 25-year-old buried a 15-footer for a final-round 64, good for a one-shot win over Brandon Hagy and Viktor Hovland. (Hovland nearly holed a wedge on the 72nd hole that would have forced a playoff.)
With the victory, NeSmith moves atop The Finals 25 and secures his first PGA TOUR card.
Here’s what was in NeSmith’s bag this week in the Gem State.
