Five players are mathematically capable of winning the Charles Schwab Cup. Scott McCarron and Jerry Kelly are the only players that can win the Charles Schwab Cup without winning the tournament.
1. Scott McCarron (2,553,515 points)
· Win
· 4th (solo) or better AND Kelly does not win
· 5th (solo) or better AND Kelly does not finish 2nd (solo)
· T8 (three-way) or better AND
· Kelly finishes 4th (three-way) or worse
· Langer does not win
· 12th (two-way) or better AND
· Kelly finishes 5th (two-way) or worse
· Langer or Montgomerie do not win
· Regardless of McCarron’s finish, he would win if
· Kelly finishes T8 (two-way) or worse
· Langer, Montgomerie or Goosen do not win2. Jerry Kelly (2,383,365 points / trails by 170,150)
· Win
· 2nd (solo) AND McCarron finishes T4 (two-way) or worse
· 3rd (solo) AND
· McCarron finishes T6 (two-way) or worse
· Langer does not win
· 4th (solo) AND
