Scott McCarron wins third title of season in Japan

NARITA, CHIBA -- Scott McCarron posted a 67 on Sunday at Narita Golf Club to win the Mastercard Japan Championship by three shots at 13-under. He cruised past Billy Andrade and Kirk Triplett, who finished in a tie for second at 10-under.

McCarron made three birdies against one bogey on the front nine and then took control of the tournament with birides on 12, 14 and 17. He made par on 18 to begin the celebration.

McCarron and Triplett, who McCarron called a "dear friend" in his post-round press conference, did a traditional Japanese bow and shook each other hands after the par putt.

McCarron picks up his third victory of the season and strengthens his hold on the top spot on the Schwab Cup standings.
