WASKESIU LAKE, Saskatchewan—Elk Ridge Resort, home of PGA TOUR Canada’s Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open, announced May 23 a partnership with the Brandt Group of Companies as it becomes the official presenting sponsor of the tournament. The official Fortinet Cup event on PGA TOUR Canada’s 2023 schedule is set for June 19-25.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with the Brandt Group of Companies to bring high-caliber professional golf back to the province. The partnership between Elk Ridge Resort and Brandt creates the opportunity to provide a first-class Northern Saskatchewan golf experience to the players and spectators,” said Ryan Danberg, Managing Partner, Elk Ridge Resort.
Brandt is a Regina-based, family-owned company that owns and operates more than 140 dealerships across Canada, Australia and New Zealand, including six John Deere agriculture stores throughout Northern Saskatchewan.
“Brandt is very pleased to partner with both PGA TOUR Canada and Elk Ridge to bring this exciting event to our home province,” said Matt Semple, Brandt Senior Vice President of Marketing. “We serve a strong community in northern Saskatchewan, and we are proud to bring this world-class event back for our customers, employees and fellow community members to enjoy.”
This is the second year of the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open on the PGA TOUR Canada schedule, but it will be the first playing of the event after rain forced cancelation of the tournament a year ago. The 2023 Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open will feature a unique re-branding, emphasizing the pride it has in the province while providing a true “Saskatchewan experience” for the players, PGA TOUR Canada staff, volunteers and spectators.
“This is an incredibly exciting event, not just for the northern region but for our entire province,” explained Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe. “Saskatchewan has amazing tourism and sporting opportunities, and we are happy to welcome this event that will help showcase what we have to offer on a national stage.”
In addition, Elk Ridge has partnered with Hockey Saskatchewan and STARS, where a portion of profits from the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open will go toward two extremely impactful programs in the province.
With the help of the PGA TOUR platform, the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open drives positive impact to support and improve the lives of youth through minor hockey, and will help provide critical care to communities in all corners of the province through STARS.
“Elk Ridge Resort takes tremendous pride in bringing families together through resort activities and entertainment,” Danberg continued.
“What a great development for the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open, and it will be an exciting week in June at a world-class facility when players arrive and compete in the province,” said Scott Pritchard, PGA TOUR Canada Executive Director. “Having the Brandt Group of Companies as a presenting sponsor with the tournament associating with two worthy charitable organizations only serves to solidify the tremendous foundation the tournament has already built.”
The 2023 PGA TOUR Canada season begins in Victoria in June, followed the week after by the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open presented by Brandt, the second of 10 official Fortinet Cup tournaments. The season concludes in Alberta in September, for the limited-field Fortinet Cup Championship, featuring the top-60 points-earners in the first nine tournaments battling for player benefits, including 2024 Korn Ferry Tour membership.
