One of his favorite golf memories as a fan was attending the 2010 U.S. Open Championship at Pebble Beach; he and a few friends followed Fresno State University alum Nick Watney.

Played collegiately for four seasons at Fresno State University (2015-19), where he won once individually and garnered All-Mountain West Conference honors in 2018 and 2019.
