His mom played basketball at Memphis, his dad played baseball at Memphis and his brother Kole played baseball at Kentucky. Kole was a fourth-round draft choice of the Boston Red Sox and is currently in the Sox's farm system.

Began playing golf in the sixth grade.

Earliest golf memory was playing in a father-son tournament at age seven at the family's home club.
