Served for two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nashville, Tennessee.
Was the starting point guard on his high school basketball team (Fremont High School) and was a two-time All-State selection.
In June 2019, became the first player to receive a grant from the Tony Finau Foundation. The $40,000 donation came from Finau, whose foundation received the grant from the Korn Ferry Tour's Utah Championship and Utah Sports Commission. The funds are to be used to mentor up-and-coming golfers from Utah.
Father, Steve, played college football for Weber State. Both of his sisters played golf at Weber State.
Family is in the ranching business with horse ranches in Utah and Idaho.

Played four seasons at Brigham Young University (2011-12 season, 2015-18 seasons), winning twice individually and garnering 2017-18 West Coast Conference Player of the Year recognition, as well as a 2018 All-America Third Team selection and back-to-back All-WCC First Team honors in 2017 and 2018.
Posted a dominant victory at the 2017 Utah Open, shooting rounds of 63-64-63 at Riverside Country Club in Provo to defeat defending champion Zahkai Brown by nine shots.
Won the 2016 Utah State Amateur Championship, the longest continuously running golf tournament in the United States. Fishburn won the 118th playing of the tournament at Alpine Country Club in Highland, Utah.
