Looking back at Scottie Scheffler’s emotional PGA Championship victory
The 108th PGA Championship kicked off at Aronimink Golf Club on Thursday, where a crowded leaderboard features a seven-way tie for the first-round lead at 3-under 67. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler, among those at 3 under, notched his first-ever, opening-round lead in a major, joining a group that includes Aldrich Potgieter, Min Woo Lee and 2010 PGA Championship winner Martin Kaymer. Xander Schauffele, the 2024 PGA Champion, is just one back at 2 under. Meanwhile, other heavyweights had mixed starts, with Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Brooks Koepka turning in solid rounds of 69, while reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy struggled to a 4-over 74.
